tEA CEREMONY AND TEA BOWL CLASS
With Miles Bothwell and Sandy Beckerman
Twice now, tea expert Miles Bothwell hosted a narrated Chabako Tea Procedure (May 2022) and Unohana Chabako Tea Ceremony (July 2022). Prepared and served in hand-crafted tea bowls from our sister company Match Stoneware, guests enjoyed matcha tea alongside traditional Japanese sweets. Miles then led a discussion on tea, tradition and how its evolved in modern times to be more inclusive.
Sandy then led the group step-by-step, on the potter’s wheel, in the creation of their own tea bowl, using the Match Stoneware tea bowls they drank from as inspiration.
Coyote Glaze Seminar
Glaze Expert Alex Butt from Coyote Clay and Glaze (based in New Mexico) came out for our first workshop in the new studio! This was a 2-day glazing seminar, where Alex demonstrated brush-on glaze techniques and presented the new Fantasy Glaze line from Coyote. Students got to glaze pots using these glazes then have them fired. One day two, we unloaded and looked at everyone’s results.
Mother’s Day 2022
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first Mother’s Day! The theme was Pottery and Peonies and it was awesome to see everyone come out and get muddy.
