HOW TO RESERVE:

Reserve and pay in-full online by clicking the button above labeled “Book”. Fill out the necessary information. Once you reserve, your name will be placed on our calendar system and you will receive an email confirmation. Save your confirmation!

REFUNDS - RESCHEDULES:

Because each week can only have a certain amount of students and teachers are getting materials in advance based on reservations, we do NOT offer refunds or reschedules. So make sure you book for the correct week BEFORE YOU PAY!

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP - ATTENDANCE:

FIRST DAY: For your child’s safety, on the first day of each session, guardians MUST come and greet the teacher and sign your child into class. After the first day, you may let the instructor know of any pick-up or drop-off changes. Safety first!

DROP OFF: Each day of your child’s session, arrive at Bitter Root Pottery at 9:50am for check-in. (Don’t forget a water bottle & snack) PLEASE SHOW UP ON TIME! If you are late, the class will still start and end at the listed time.

PICK UP: Pick up your child at 12:30pm - No later than 12:40pm! Please pick up your child on time so staff can clean and prepare the studio for the next classes.

WHAT TO WEAR AND WHAT TO BRING:

Each child should have their own water bottle with their name on it.

Come dressed comfortably with long hair tied back and nice jewelry and watches removed (they won’t get hurt but it is a pain to clean the clay off!). The clay will wash out and we do provide clean aprons; but wear clothes you don’t mind getting clay on.

And just a friendly tip - long nails are not pottery-friendly because the process involves so much of your hands and fingers.

REFUNDS WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF A PIECE DOES NOT MAKE IT.

You are coming to Bitter Root Pottery for the whole experience of working in a ceramics studio with a knowledgeable, friendly instructor! Our instructors have been working for years in this discipline to get to the skills they have today. These skills cannot be imparted in one session. So while you may have ideas of making a perfect bowl, we encourage you to put those expectations down and focus on enjoying the entire experience of working with clay and engaging with the creative process so in-depth.

WHAT IS INCLUDED AND WHAT TO EXPECT:

WHAT IS INCLUDED AND WHAT TO EXPECT:

Winter Teen Camp is open to 10 students to ensure the best experience and quality instruction. Includes all instruction, aprons, clay, tools, underglazes, choice of glaze colors, post-production and firings.

Please have the campers bring a personal lunch or snack and a water bottle to enjoy during the break, as food will not be provided.

Instructors will the students a project that will be completed that same day. At the end of each lesson, instructors will guide the teens through a comprehensive clean up of their stations and tools. After all, proper pottery lessons are never complete without instructions on how to care for your tools.

When the week is over, staff will store the completed projects safely in our studio. Staff will do all the major post-production - glazing and firing. Once all the teen’s projects are finished, the staff will contact you for pick-up.

Please allow about 6-8 weeks for any pottery made to go through the entire firing post-production process.

WHAT WILL THE KIDS BE MAKING?

For our Teen Camp we want our students to dive in and get their hands dirty! From wheel throwing to hand-building we will be covering all the classics as well as some unique techniques. Lessons will include slab building, coil pots, wheel throwing, carving and underglaze decorating. Each lesson will teach students fun ways to challenge their creativity with pottery. We look forward to seeing the amazing things each teen will create!

Examples of past projects can be seen on our instagram in the highlights.

PARKING:

Parking is street metered and non-metered so pay attention to the signs. Please do not park in any business’s parking lots or designated BRP Staff spaces. If you do, you risk being towed. Please allow extra time to find parking as parking is limited at certain times/days.

WAIVER:

ATTENTION BITTER ROOT POTTERY STUDENTS:

By reserving a class at Bitter Root, you acknowledge that you have read the waiver below and agree to all terms and conditions, rules and guidelines on this entire page .

Please allow at least six-eight (6-8) weeks for your pottery to complete the firing process. Staff will contact you when everyone’s pottery in your group is ready to be picked up. From the time of your contact, you have 30 days to come pick up your pottery. After 30 days, your work may not be available for pick-up as we need to clear room for new student work.

OCCASIONALLY, PIECES DO NOT MAKE IT THROUGH THE FIRING PROCESS DUE TO AIR BUBBLES, CONSTRUCTION ISSUES, ETC. OCCASIONALLY, FIRINGS DO NOT GO AS PLANNED AND GLAZES MAY COME OUT DIFFERENT THAN EXPECTED. STAFF CANNOT CONTROL THE RESULTS OF FIRING ONCE A POT IS IN THE KILN. THIS IS SIMPLY THE NATURE OF THE IMPERFECT CERAMIC PROCESS. COMPLETED PIECES ARE NOT GUARANTEED.
